Michelle Powell,

Founding Director

In the summer of 2000, Michelle Powell, a single mother of two, began a journey that would ultimately change her life and positively impact the lives of many children in need. Michelle’s first vision of Let’s Make a Difference may have been formed using only her limited resources – a simple meal and a game of kickball at the local park; but it was the positive feedback from the handful of children to whom she reached out that inspired her to make that vision a reality.

Strengthened by her commitment to ministry and her work as a consultant for Medina Schools, Michelle persevered in overcoming obstacles while developing the Let’s Make a Difference Program. She organized a board of directors and a team of volunteers to plan and provide the daily summer activities.

Over the years, Let's Make A Difference has touched the lives of over 700 children.    Powell has received several awards for her efforts both locally and nationally.  See Below.

"Today, Powell has become a widely known figure in our area who dedicated over 20 years to guiding children, many who went from troubled performances to merit and honor roll status, earned scholarships and graduated from college. Her genuine care and dedication to children in the Medina community has led to countless awards including The Soul of Philanthropy, Paul Harris Fellow Honoree (Sunrise Rotary Club), Athena Leadership Award (Medina County Women’s Journal), Hall of Fame (Medina City Schools), YWCA’s Women of Distinction, Mother of the Year (Jack & Jill of America), Agent of Change (American Association of University Women) and many others."
